Coinco Guardian Six-Tube MDB Coin Changer

The refurbished Coinco Guardian GLXUS is a six-tube coin mechanism for compatible MDB vending machines. It is designed to accept coins, manage change, and support routine service. The recessed-style unit is listed under SKU CHGLXUS. Check the machine model, plug, mounting space, and required coin setup before ordering.

Key Product Features

Six coin tubes give operators more ways to plan change inventory. The removable cassette helps make loading and service easier. A keypad and LCD support menu access. The unit uses MDB communication and is intended for machines with the correct interface. Confirm the exact coin configuration before use.

Why Six Tubes Matter

Change capacity affects the customer experience. When a machine runs short of the coins it needs, it may display an exact-change message. Six tubes can provide more flexibility than a smaller tube layout. Actual payout performance depends on tube assignments, coin stock, prices, and machine settings.

MDB Compatibility Checklist

MDB is a common payment communication system in commercial vending machines. A matching connector alone does not prove full compatibility. Check the vending controller, power requirements, harness, mounting, firmware, and coin configuration. Do not connect this mechanism to a non-MDB system without a verified solution.

Coin Acceptance and Payout

The product listing describes support for dollar coins as well as a six-tube payout system. Accepted coins and payout choices depend on programming and the exact configuration. Test each denomination after installation. Confirm the changer returns the correct amount for purchases and canceled transactions.

Refurbished Equipment Considerations

A refurbished coin changer can help extend the useful life of a vending machine. Condition and included accessories may vary by unit. Before purchase, confirm the current listing, warranty terms, and any exchange requirements. Inspect the received unit before placing it into paid service.

Installation Preparation

Turn off and unplug the vending machine before handling its payment equipment. Compare the existing mechanism with the replacement. Check the mounting points and cable routing. Do not force the connector. Follow the machine and Coinco service instructions. If you are unsure about electrical work, use a qualified technician.

Initial Setup and Testing

After installation, inspect the coin path and load the correct coins into the tubes. Use the service menu to review configuration where supported. Test coin acceptance, credit display, vend completion, change payout, and refunds. Run several transactions at different prices before returning the machine to public use.

Routine Cleaning

Dust, residue, and bent coins can disrupt coin handling. Follow approved service instructions for cleaning the coin path. Keep moisture away from electronic parts. Avoid harsh chemicals and unapproved lubricants. Check the cassette and coin tubes for damage or obstructions during scheduled visits.

Troubleshooting Change Issues

If the machine reports exact change, first check coin inventory and tube assignments. If coins are rejected, inspect the coin path and configuration. If the changer is not detected, inspect the MDB connection with power off. Follow the diagnostic messages and service manual rather than replacing parts at random.

Good Fit for Vending Routes

Operators of snack, soda, and combo machines may need a dependable way to handle cash sales. A compatible six-tube changer can help support different price points and coin patterns. It also gives service teams a familiar component to inspect, stock, and maintain during regular route visits.

Before You Order

Verify that the required part is the Coinco Guardian GLXUS recessed-style six-tube MDB coin changer. Compare photos, labels, and manufacturer numbers. The listing also refers to manufacturer number G6XUS. Ask about the exact refurbished unit, availability, and included parts when any detail is uncertain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it for every vending machine? No. The machine must support the correct MDB interface and physical fit. Does it accept dollar coins? The listing states dollar-coin support; confirm the installed configuration. Is it new? This listing identifies the unit as refurbished. Are coin tubes included? Verify the contents of the specific order.

Operator Service Notes

Keep a record of the old and replacement model numbers. Record the tube setup and the results of the first payout test. Track recurring errors by date and location. Clear records help staff spot patterns and make future service calls faster. Recheck the setup after any controller or pricing change.

Cash and Cashless Planning

Some vending machines use a coin changer alongside a bill validator or card reader. Whether these devices can operate together depends on the vending controller, MDB wiring, and payment configuration. Confirm the complete payment system rather than assuming every MDB device combination will work.

Choosing the Right Replacement

Start with the model printed on the existing changer. Next, compare the interface and physical style. Check the machine manual for supported payment devices. If the old unit failed, inspect the harness and controller before installing another mechanism. A correct replacement helps avoid repeat service visits.

Check the current tube levels and compare them with expected sales. Refill only with the correct coins for the programmed tube positions. Test a small purchase and confirm the payout before closing the door.

After-service testing: practical check 8

Keep a simple record of what you tested. Include the date, machine ID, observed result, and any error message. This helps the next route visit and reduces repeat checks.

Seasonal route checks: practical check 8

Use the machine manual and the Coinco service guide for the exact procedure. Different vending controllers can use different menus and settings. Do not guess at wiring or programming.

Location traffic patterns: practical check 8

Inspect parts for wear, debris, and poor seating. Turn power off before disconnecting payment equipment. If the problem continues, ask a qualified service technician to inspect the system.

Cash collection routines: practical check 8

Compare the machine setup with the sales pattern at that location. Higher traffic may call for more frequent checks. Always verify coin acceptance and correct change after service.

Error message review: practical check 8

Check the current tube levels and compare them with expected sales. Refill only with the correct coins for the programmed tube positions. Test a small purchase and confirm the payout before closing the door.

Why Buy A Refurbished Machine?

Great Returns - Commercial Grade Machines - Affordability

New vs Refurbished

We used to sell new machines as well as reconditioned ones. We no longer sell new, for one main reason.

According to a recent survey of vending operators, about 93 out of 100 potential vending accounts don't generate enough revenue to justify the cost of new equipment. New machines are great if you have high volume accounts, but most people do not have these accounts.

Typical pricing on new "commercial grade" machines:

  • Can drink machines: $6,200–$7,400
  • Snack machines: $6,600–$8,500
  • Cold food machines: $8,900–$11,700

(Priced with mech and validator, typical options, vendor pricing not including sales tax or shipping in some cases.)

As you can see, that's quite high compared to used or refurbished equipment.

Please remember 'anyone and everyone' can call their machines refurbished but what does that really mean? Please see our machine ratings page for what we actually do to our machines. Many of our competitors don't even 'clean or paint the inside' of the machines.

Start small and grow as you can afford it.

Many people start in the vending business without much knowledge, and that can hurt them financially if they're not careful.

All of the machines that we sell are full size, commercial machines. There are many machines that are made that are small, countertop or mechanical coin acceptance. These machines are fine if you are a housewife looking to make a little extra money on the side. We used to sell those type of machines and no longer do. The main reason is that people who were serious about vending would out grow these type of machines in several months.

Small mechanical machines have two main problems:

  • They don't make change or accept dollar bills
  • They "work you to death" — frequent refills for very little payoff

Most hold under 100 products and gross only $40–$50 per full restock, and profit is less than half of that.

A full-size commercial machine, by contrast, usually holds 350 to 600 products and empties out at $250–$500. Since you spend most of your time just driving to the location, you might as well fill 500 products instead of 50.
