Dixie Narco 80181298011 Shim
The Dixie Narco 80181298011 shim is a purpose-specific replacement part for selected Dixie Narco beverage vending equipment. The product listing identifies compatibility with the 5591 and DN5000 models. It also identifies use with the 2145 when the machine has tall gates.
This makes the part number especially useful when servicing older or established vending equipment. Instead of relying only on a general description such as “Dixie Narco shim,” operators can use the manufacturer number to help match the replacement part to the machine.
Correct part identification can save time during maintenance. It can also reduce the chance of ordering a similar-looking part that is not intended for the machine configuration being repaired.
What Is a Vending Machine Shim?
A shim is a small component used to provide a controlled amount of spacing, support, or adjustment between parts. In vending equipment, shims can be used in areas where proper spacing and alignment are important.
Although a shim may look simple, its dimensions and shape are important. A replacement shim is not automatically interchangeable with every shim used in a vending machine. Even small differences can change how components fit together.
That is why the 80181298011 manufacturer part number is important. It gives buyers a specific reference when searching for the correct Dixie Narco replacement part.
Why the Correct Shim Matters
Vending machines contain many moving and fixed components. Each component needs to remain in the intended position. If spacing changes because a part is worn, missing, bent, or incorrectly replaced, related components may not operate as designed.
A properly matched shim can help restore the intended fit between components. It can also help a technician maintain consistent spacing during service.
The goal is not simply to install any shim. The goal is to use the correct shim for the machine and application.
- Use the correct manufacturer part number when possible.
- Confirm the vending machine model.
- Check the machine configuration.
- Compare the replacement part with the removed part.
- Inspect nearby components for wear or damage.
- Follow appropriate service procedures.
Compatible Dixie Narco Machines
The product listing identifies several specific Dixie Narco applications. These include the Dixie Narco 5591, DN5000, and the Dixie Narco 2145 with tall gates.
Compatibility should always be confirmed before ordering. Model names alone may not tell the entire story. Some vending machines are produced in different configurations, and components may vary by gate type, product setup, production version, or other machine details.
Dixie Narco 5591
The 5591 is identified on the product page as one of the applications for the 80181298011 shim. If you are servicing a 5591 and need this specific replacement shim, compare the existing part and machine configuration with the information provided by the product listing.
When working on an older beverage machine, it is useful to record the model and part numbers before removing components. Take clear photos of the installation area. Keep removed hardware together. These simple steps can make reassembly easier.
Dixie Narco DN5000
The product listing also identifies the DN5000 as an application. If your machine is marked DN5000, use the machine identification label and the existing component as additional references when confirming the replacement.
Do not assume that every part used on one Dixie Narco model will fit another model. Beverage vending machines can share similar parts while still requiring different components in specific locations.
Dixie Narco 2145 With Tall Gates
The listing specifies that the 80181298011 shim fits the 2145 with tall gates. This detail is important.
If you have a Dixie Narco 2145, confirm that your machine uses the tall-gate configuration before ordering this part. A model number without the correct configuration may not provide enough information for a reliable fit check.
Manufacturer Part Number 80181298011
The manufacturer part number is 80181298011. This number should be used when searching for this particular Dixie Narco shim.
Part numbers are especially useful for vending machine maintenance. A machine may have dozens or hundreds of individual components. Generic descriptions can be confusing. A specific number gives technicians and operators a more direct way to identify the desired part.
When contacting a vending parts supplier, provide the complete part number whenever possible. Also provide the machine model and any important configuration information.
Vending World SKU D80181298011
Vending World identifies this item with SKU D80181298011. The SKU is the store reference used for the product on the Vending World website.
The manufacturer number and store SKU serve different purposes. The manufacturer number identifies the part. The store SKU identifies the item within the seller's catalog.
Keeping both numbers in your maintenance records can make future ordering easier.
New Dixie Narco Replacement Part
This listing identifies the item as a NEW PART. That makes it different from a refurbished or used component.
When replacing a small machine component, some operators prefer a new part because it has not previously been installed in another machine. A new replacement part can also be a practical choice when the original component is missing or no longer suitable for continued service.
Regardless of whether a component is new or used, correct application remains important. A new part is only useful if it is the correct part for the machine.
When You May Need a Replacement Shim
A shim may need replacement when it is missing, damaged, bent, worn, or lost during machine service. It may also need replacement when a technician discovers that the existing part is not the correct component for the machine.
Common service situations can include:
- Routine vending machine maintenance.
- Replacement of related mechanical components.
- Reassembly after a repair.
- Correction of a missing shim.
- Replacement of a damaged shim.
- Restoration of an older machine.
- Parts replacement during refurbishment.
- Preventive maintenance inspections.
A shim should not be replaced simply because a machine has a dispensing issue. First identify the actual cause of the problem. A jam, misalignment, or dispensing problem may involve several possible components.
Inspect Before Replacing
Before installing a replacement shim, inspect the surrounding area. Look for loose hardware, damaged brackets, worn contact surfaces, bent parts, or signs that another component has moved from its intended position.
A shim can only perform its intended function when the surrounding components are also in suitable condition.
If another component is damaged, installing a new shim alone may not correct the underlying issue. A complete inspection can help prevent repeated service calls.
How to Confirm Your Part
Use several identification points before ordering.
- Locate the vending machine model number.
- Check the machine configuration.
- Identify the area where the shim is installed.
- Remove or inspect the existing shim if appropriate.
- Look for a stamped, printed, or documented part number.
- Compare the part with manufacturer information.
- Confirm that the listing specifies your model and configuration.
For this item, the key reference is 80181298011. The product page specifically lists the 5591, DN5000, and 2145 with tall gates.
Why Part Number Searches Are Useful
Searching for “Dixie Narco shim” can return many different products. Searching for Dixie Narco 80181298011 is more specific.
Using the exact part number can help reduce confusion between similar parts. This is especially useful when a vending machine has multiple shims with different shapes or applications.
For maintenance departments, storing part numbers in a digital parts list can also make future purchases faster.
Vending Machine Maintenance Planning
Good vending machine maintenance starts with organized records. Keep a list of machine models, serial numbers, part numbers, service dates, and commonly replaced components.
For each machine, consider keeping a small maintenance kit with basic replacement items. The exact contents will depend on the machine fleet and service history.
A parts inventory can help operators avoid unnecessary downtime. It also makes it easier to identify which components should be reordered.
Small Parts Can Affect Service Work
Vending machines contain many small parts. These parts are easy to overlook because they are often less visible than motors, control boards, displays, or coin mechanisms.
However, small hardware can still affect the fit of larger components. A missing shim may create a spacing problem that is not obvious until the machine is serviced.
For this reason, technicians should pay attention to every component during disassembly and reassembly.
Using the 80181298011 Shim During Service
Use the shim only in the application for which it is intended. The product listing identifies specific Dixie Narco models and configurations.
Before service, disconnect or secure the vending machine according to the manufacturer's service procedures. Take care around moving parts, electrical components, refrigeration equipment, sharp edges, and heavy doors.
Use appropriate tools for the specific repair. Do not force a shim into a location where it does not fit naturally.
General Installation Approach
The exact installation procedure depends on where the shim is used in the machine. Service documentation for the specific vending machine should be followed.
A general replacement process may include:
- Identify the correct machine and component.
- Secure the machine before service.
- Document the original component position.
- Remove the related hardware carefully.
- Inspect the mating surfaces.
- Compare the old and new shim.
- Place the new shim in the correct position.
- Reinstall the associated hardware.
- Check for proper movement and clearance.
- Test the machine before returning it to normal operation.
This is a general service outline. It is not a substitute for the service manual for your specific Dixie Narco machine.
Do Not Force the Part
A correctly matched shim should fit the intended location. If the part does not fit, stop and check the application.
Do not bend, grind, drill, or otherwise modify the shim unless an approved service procedure specifically requires it.
Modification can change the thickness or position of the component. It can also create a new problem in the machine.
Check Related Components
When servicing a shim, inspect the related hardware. Look for:
- Loose fasteners.
- Missing hardware.
- Bent brackets.
- Excessive wear.
- Damaged mounting points.
- Product path obstructions.
- Signs of rubbing.
- Unexpected movement.
If a related part is worn, determine whether it also requires service before completing the repair.
Why Proper Spacing Matters
Mechanical vending equipment depends on controlled spacing. Components must have enough clearance to move while remaining in the correct relationship to surrounding parts.
A shim can be part of that relationship. It can help position a component at the intended distance from another component.
When spacing changes, the result can range from a minor fit issue to a mechanical problem. The exact effect depends on the component and machine design.
Maintenance Benefits of Correct Parts
Using the correct replacement parts helps keep maintenance work consistent. It also makes future troubleshooting easier because the machine remains closer to its intended configuration.
Correct parts can help technicians avoid improvised fixes. They also provide a clear record for future service.
For commercial vending operators, consistency matters. A fleet with many machines can be easier to maintain when technicians use known part numbers and documented procedures.
For Vending Machine Operators
This Dixie Narco shim can be useful for operators who maintain their own beverage vending equipment. It may also be useful for independent vending technicians, repair shops, equipment refurbishers, and vending machine resellers.
If you maintain several Dixie Narco machines, record which models use the 80181298011 part. Keep the manufacturer number in your inventory system.
When a repair is needed later, you will not have to identify the part from memory alone.
For Vending Machine Technicians
Technicians often work under time pressure. A precise part number can make the ordering process easier.
The 80181298011 reference can be used to help identify the specific shim required for the listed Dixie Narco applications.
Before installing it, compare the replacement with the machine's original component. If there is any uncertainty, verify the application before proceeding.
For Vending Machine Refurbishers
Refurbishment often involves replacing missing or worn hardware. Small parts can be easy to overlook during a large machine rebuild.
When refurbishing a Dixie Narco beverage machine, inspect the machine from top to bottom. Check the product delivery system, gates, mechanical assemblies, electrical parts, refrigeration system, doors, locks, and small hardware.
Replacing missing components can help create a more complete service result.
For Vending Parts Inventory
Small replacement parts take up little storage space. Even so, they should be labeled clearly.
A simple inventory label can include:
- Manufacturer.
- Part number.
- Machine application.
- Part description.
- Quantity in stock.
- Reorder level.
For this product, a useful inventory description would be “Dixie Narco shim, 80181298011, 5591/DN5000, 2145 tall gates.”
Storage Tips
Store small metal or mechanical parts in a clean, dry location. Keep them in labeled bins or containers.
Avoid mixing visually similar shims. Different thicknesses and shapes may look nearly identical while serving different applications.
Keep manufacturer part numbers with the physical parts. This reduces identification problems when the same machine is serviced months later.

Dixie Narco Shim – 80181298011 – 5591/DN5000 – 2145 Tall Gates
This format makes the application easy to scan.
Replacing Small Vending Machine Parts
Replacing a small part can be a simple repair when the correct component is known. The most important step is identification.
Before starting, ask:
- What machine model am I servicing?
- What configuration does the machine have?
- What component am I replacing?
- What is the original part number?
- Does the replacement have the same manufacturer number?
- Does the listing confirm my machine application?
- Are nearby parts also worn or damaged?
Answering these questions can help prevent unnecessary parts purchases.
Common Parts Identification Mistakes
One common mistake is ordering a part based only on a photo. Photos are useful, but they do not always show thickness, dimensions, mounting details, or configuration requirements.
Another mistake is assuming that a part from one Dixie Narco model automatically fits another model. Always verify the application.
A third mistake is discarding the original part before documenting it. When possible, photograph the installation before removing the component.
Take Photos During Disassembly
A smartphone can be a useful service tool. Before removing a small component, take several clear photos.
Photograph:
- The entire machine area.
- The component location.
- The orientation of the component.
- Nearby brackets.
- Fastener locations.
- Any labels or part numbers.
Photos can make reassembly easier, especially when multiple small parts are involved.
Keep Hardware Organized
Small fasteners can be easy to lose. Use a tray, labeled container, or parts bag while working.
If several components are removed, label each group. This is especially helpful when servicing more than one machine at the same time.
Inspect for Corrosion and Damage
Vending machines can operate in many environments. Moisture, spills, dust, temperature changes, and normal wear can affect components.
During service, inspect the area around the shim for corrosion, residue, or physical damage. If the mounting surface is damaged, replacing the shim alone may not address the problem.
Do Not Ignore Unusual Movement
Unexpected movement can be a sign that a component is loose or incorrectly positioned. If a part moves more than expected, investigate before putting the machine back into service.
A shim may be part of the original assembly, but the cause of movement could be elsewhere. Check the complete assembly.
Machine Safety
Vending machines contain electrical and mechanical systems. Some machines are large and heavy. Service work should be performed by someone familiar with the equipment and appropriate safety practices.
Before working inside a machine, follow the manufacturer's service instructions. Disconnect power when required. Secure doors and heavy components. Keep hands away from moving parts.
Do not work on electrical components while energized unless the service procedure specifically requires it and you are qualified to perform that work.
Why Experienced Vending Operators Keep Parts on Hand
Downtime can interrupt sales and require another service visit. Operators who maintain several machines may benefit from keeping commonly needed parts organized.
Small parts are often easier to store than large assemblies. A labeled inventory can help technicians find the right component when a machine needs service.
Keep only parts that are relevant to your equipment. An organized inventory is more useful than a large collection of unidentified hardware.
Dixie Narco Parts for Long-Term Machine Service
Dixie Narco beverage machines can remain part of a vending fleet for many years. Proper maintenance helps operators keep established equipment in service.
As machines age, some parts may need replacement. Having accurate part information becomes increasingly useful.
The 80181298011 part number provides a specific reference for the shim listed for selected Dixie Narco machines.
For Commercial Beverage Vending Routes
Operators with multiple beverage machines often need a repeatable maintenance process. A standard checklist can make service visits more consistent.
During each visit, technicians can record machine condition, product availability, mechanical issues, and parts needed.
If a shim or other small part is required, the machine number and part number can be entered into the service record immediately.
For Vending Machine Repair Shops
Repair shops can use manufacturer part numbers to improve parts identification. When customers bring in equipment, record the machine model and configuration before quoting a replacement part.
Keep similar components separated in inventory. Label bins with both the description and manufacturer number.
This can help reduce picking errors and improve turnaround time.
For Machine Resellers
Vending machine resellers often service equipment before placing it with a customer. Small missing parts can become part of that preparation work.
If a machine is being prepared for resale, inspect all mechanical assemblies and replace missing components as appropriate.
Document replacement parts so future service personnel know what was installed.
How the Right Part Supports Better Maintenance
The purpose of a replacement part is not simply to fill an empty location. The replacement should match the machine's intended design.
Using the correct component supports repeatable service. It also gives technicians a clear reference when the machine needs attention later.
Do Shims Need Regular Replacement?
Not every shim requires scheduled replacement. The service life depends on the material, location, load, machine condition, and operating environment.
Inspect shims during related repairs. Replace them when they are damaged, missing, worn, or otherwise identified as needing replacement.
Signs That Deserve Investigation
When servicing a vending machine, investigate signs such as:
- Unusual rubbing.
- Unexpected component movement.
- Repeated mechanical jams.
- Loose hardware.
- Visible wear.
- Missing small parts.
- Misaligned components.
- Difficulty during normal mechanical movement.
These signs do not automatically mean the shim is the cause. They indicate that the related assembly should be inspected.
Maintain the Correct Machine Configuration
Replacement parts should match the machine configuration. This is especially important for the Dixie Narco 2145 application because the product listing specifies 2145 with tall gates.
When ordering, do not leave configuration information out if it affects the part application.

Why Buy A Refurbished Machine?
Great Returns - Commercial Grade Machines - Affordability
New vs Refurbished
We used to sell new machines as well as reconditioned ones. We no longer sell new, for one main reason.
According to a recent survey of vending operators, about 93 out of 100 potential vending accounts don't generate enough revenue to justify the cost of new equipment. New machines are great if you have high volume accounts, but most people do not have these accounts.
Typical pricing on new "commercial grade" machines:
- Can drink machines: $6,200–$7,400
- Snack machines: $6,600–$8,500
- Cold food machines: $8,900–$11,700
(Priced with mech and validator, typical options, vendor pricing not including sales tax or shipping in some cases.)
As you can see, that's quite high compared to used or refurbished equipment.
Please remember 'anyone and everyone' can call their machines refurbished but what does that really mean? Please see our machine ratings page for what we actually do to our machines. Many of our competitors don't even 'clean or paint the inside' of the machines.
Start small and grow as you can afford it.Many people start in the vending business without much knowledge, and that can hurt them financially if they're not careful.
All of the machines that we sell are full size, commercial machines. There are many machines that are made that are small, countertop or mechanical coin acceptance. These machines are fine if you are a housewife looking to make a little extra money on the side. We used to sell those type of machines and no longer do. The main reason is that people who were serious about vending would out grow these type of machines in several months.
Small mechanical machines have two main problems:
- They don't make change or accept dollar bills
- They "work you to death" — frequent refills for very little payoff
Most hold under 100 products and gross only $40–$50 per full restock, and profit is less than half of that.
A full-size commercial machine, by contrast, usually holds 350 to 600 products and empties out at $250–$500. Since you spend most of your time just driving to the location, you might as well fill 500 products instead of 50.
