The National Ultra Black Snack Vending Machine: A Comprehensive Overview
Vending machines have become an essential fixture in various settings, providing convenient access to snacks and drinks. Among the prominent offerings in this market is the National Ultra Black vending machine, a refurbished model lauded for its versatility, capacity, and modern payment capabilities. This article delves into the features and specifications of the National Ultra Black snack vending machine, ideal for businesses seeking reliable and efficient snack dispensing solutions.
Ultra Black Design and Build Quality
The National Ultra Black vending machine boasts a sleek ultra-black finish that not only adds an aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability in high-traffic environments. Its robust construction is designed to withstand daily use while maintaining a polished appearance. As a refurbished item, it offers a cost-effective alternative without compromising on performance or reliability. Each unit undergoes thorough inspection and refurbishment processes to ensure optimal functionality upon delivery.
Capacity and Selection
One of the standout features of this machine is its generous capacity. Equipped with six shelves, it can accommodate between 30 to 40 snack selections, depending on the size and packaging of the products loaded. The shelves are designed in a 5-wide snack machine configuration, allowing for a greater variety of options within each shelf level. This design maximizes product visibility and facilitates easy restocking.
The machine’s dual spiral snack system enhances the dispensing mechanism. Each spiral rotates to release individual snack items smoothly, reducing jams and ensuring consistent operation. This dual spiral setup allows for the handling of different snack sizes and shapes, providing flexibility in product offerings. Snack operators can stock a diverse range from chips and candy bars to healthier snack alternatives.
Payment Systems
Modern vending machines must cater to various payment preferences, and the National Ultra Black does so effectively. It features a coins 3-tube system, enabling the acceptance and sorting of multiple coin denominations. The bills acceptor is configured to handle $1 bills, offering straightforward cash transactions.
In addition to cash payments, this machine is equipped with an MDB (Multi-Drop Bus) PC board, an industry-standard interface facilitating communication between the vending machine's components and external devices. This PC board supports robust payment peripherals, including credit card readers.
Credit Card Capability
The National Ultra Black is credit card capable, expanding its usability in locations where cashless payments are preferred. It supports modern DEX protocol communication standards, allowing operators to collect detailed sales data and inventory reports remotely. The integration of credit card readers (not included by default, but compatible) enables seamless transactions through contactless and chip-based payment methods.
It is important to note that the credit card functionality requires additional hardware installation and configuration by an authorized technician or vending professional. Once set up, this feature broadens customer accessibility, particularly among younger demographics who favor electronic payments over cash.

Why Buy A Refurbished Machine?
Great Returns - Commercial Grade Machines - Affordability
New vs Refurbished
We used to sell new machines as well as reconditioned. We no longer sell new for the following reason: According to a recent survey of vending operators about 93 out of 100 potential vending accounts do not make enough revenue to warrant the cost of new equipment. New machines are great if you have high volume accounts, but most people do not have these accounts. Typical cost on new 'commercial grade' machines run as much as: Can drink $3400-$4800, Snack $3600-$4500, Cold food $7200-$8500, as you can see quite high compared to used or refurbished. Priced with mech and validator, typical options, vendor pricing, not including sales tax or shipping in some cases. Please remember 'anyone and everyone' can call their machines refurbished but what does that really mean? Please see our machine ratings page for what we actually do to our machines. Many of our competitors don't even 'clean or paint the inside' of the machines.
Start small and grow as you can afford it.Many people start in the vending business without much knowledge. This can hurt you financially if you are not careful. All of the machines that we sell are full size, commercial machines. There are many machines that are made that are small, countertop or mechanical coin acceptance. These machines are fine if you are a housewife looking to make a little extra money on the side. We used to sell those type of machines and no longer do. The main reason is that people who were serious about vending would out grow these type of machines in several months. There are two main problems with the small mechanical machines. One problem is the machine does not make change or take dollar bills. The second problem is that the machine will 'work you to death'. Most of these machines hold under 100 products and can only gross $40 to $50 at a time, if the entire machine empties out. This is only the gross, the profit is less than 1/2 of that amount. A full size commercial machine on the other hand usually holds 350 to 600 products and empties out at $250 to $500. Remember you spend the most time driving to the location so you might as well fill 500 products as soon as 50.
