Designed for Compatible Dixie Narco Beverage Machines
The correct shim is important when configuring a beverage vending machine for a particular product package. Dixie Narco machines can use different shims based on bottle or can size and the vending configuration. This part is specifically identified for a 20 oz bottle application.
The #801812690.11 shim is listed for the 2145, 5591, and DN5000 platforms. It is also identified as a tall-gate Shim A. Before ordering, vending operators should confirm the machine model, gate configuration, bottle size, and required shim type.
Choosing the correct part helps avoid problems caused by using an incorrect shim. Beverage vending machines are designed around specific product dimensions. Even products that are sold as the same nominal size can have different shapes and diameters. For that reason, operators should verify their actual bottle and machine configuration before installation.
Why the Correct Bottle Shim Matters
A beverage vending machine must hold, position, and release products in a controlled way. The internal vending mechanism depends on the correct spacing and product support. A properly matched shim helps establish the intended configuration for the selected bottle size.
The shim is a small component, but small vending parts can have an important role in machine setup. Using the appropriate part can help operators maintain the correct product configuration and reduce the need for improvised adjustments.
For machines dispensing 20 oz bottles, using a shim intended for that bottle application can make machine setup easier and more consistent. It also gives operators a replacement option when an existing shim is worn, damaged, missing, or no longer available.
Fits Dixie Narco 2145 and 5591 Machines
The Dixie Narco 2145 and 5591 are beverage vending platforms that can be configured for different packaged drinks. Vending World lists this part as a 20 oz bottle shim for these machines, with the additional specification of Shim A and tall gate.
This makes the #801812690.11 a useful replacement part for operators maintaining compatible equipment. Instead of replacing an entire vending mechanism because of a small missing component, operators can source the specific shim needed for the machine configuration.
For service technicians, having commonly used shims available can also make beverage machine maintenance more efficient. A small replacement part can be kept with other vending machine service parts and installed when needed during a machine adjustment or repair.
Compatible with DN5000
This shim is also listed as fitting the Dixie Narco DN5000. If you maintain multiple Dixie Narco beverage machines, confirming the part number before ordering is especially important. Different machines and product configurations can require different shim designs.
The DN5000 should be checked for the appropriate bottle and gate configuration before this part is installed. The listing identifies this product specifically as a 20 oz Bottle Shim A for a tall gate.
New Replacement Part
This is a new Dixie Narco part. A new replacement shim can be useful when servicing an existing vending machine and replacing a component that is damaged, missing, or unsuitable for the current product setup.
Keeping replacement parts on hand can help reduce downtime. Beverage machines that are actively used in locations such as workplaces, apartment buildings, hotels, schools, warehouses, and other high-traffic areas may need regular service. Having the correct small parts available can simplify maintenance work.
Important: Verify the Bottle Size Before Ordering
Dixie Narco beverage machines can use many different shims. Vending World notes that there are numerous shim configurations available for BevMax-style machines, and the listed shims for 12 oz cans, 16 oz bottles, and 20 oz bottles are intended for standard vending-size containers.
Not every beverage container has the same diameter. Two products can both be marketed as 20 oz beverages while having different package dimensions. This can affect how the product fits inside the vending machine.
For this reason, do not select a shim based only on the beverage volume printed on the bottle. Check the machine model, gate style, existing shim, and bottle dimensions whenever possible.
Shim A – Tall Gate Configuration
The A designation is an important part of this product's identification. This is not simply a generic shim for every Dixie Narco beverage machine. It is listed as Shim A, tall gate.
Matching the letter designation and gate configuration helps ensure that the replacement part corresponds with the intended vending setup. Before installation, compare the replacement part with the existing configuration and verify the machine's service documentation when necessary.
Helpful Replacement for Vending Machine Maintenance
Vending machine maintenance often involves more than major components such as motors, control boards, refrigeration systems, and coin mechanisms. Small parts can also be essential to proper machine setup. Shims, spacers, springs, buttons, harnesses, and other components may need replacement as machines age or configurations change.
The Dixie Narco #801812690.11 provides a dedicated replacement option for the specified 20 oz bottle configuration. Its small size makes it easy to store with other vending machine parts, while its specific part number makes identification easier when ordering or organizing inventory.
Applications for Vending Operators and Technicians
This replacement shim can be useful for several types of vending service work:
- Replacing a missing 20 oz bottle shim
- Replacing a damaged or worn shim
- Setting up a compatible Dixie Narco beverage machine
- Changing a machine to a compatible 20 oz bottle configuration
- Maintaining Dixie Narco 2145 machines
- Maintaining Dixie Narco 5591 machines
- Maintaining compatible DN5000 machines
- Keeping spare small parts available for field service
Check Your Existing Configuration
Before purchasing, compare the existing machine configuration with the specifications for this shim. Look for the model number, gate type, bottle size, and current shim designation. If your machine uses a different gate or bottle configuration, another Dixie Narco shim may be required.
Vending World carries multiple Dixie Narco shim options because different beverage packages require different configurations. The company's Dixie Narco parts selection includes shims and other replacement components for beverage vending equipment.
Installation Considerations
Installation should be performed with the vending machine configured according to the manufacturer's service instructions. Make sure the machine is safe to service and that the appropriate power and mechanical safety procedures are followed.
After installing the shim, verify the product setup before placing the machine back into regular service. Test the intended bottle configuration and confirm that products move through the vending mechanism correctly. If the machine continues to have vending problems, inspect the complete product delivery system rather than assuming the shim is the only cause.
Why Keep Replacement Shims in Stock?
For vending operators with several beverage machines, small replacement parts can be worth keeping in inventory. A missing shim can delay a machine adjustment even though it is inexpensive and easy to store. Keeping the correct part number on hand can help technicians complete service work without waiting for a new order.
This is especially useful for operators who maintain multiple Dixie Narco machines. Parts can be organized by manufacturer, machine model, and application so technicians can quickly identify the correct component.

Why Buy A Refurbished Machine?
Great Returns - Commercial Grade Machines - Affordability
New vs Refurbished
We used to sell new machines as well as reconditioned ones. We no longer sell new, for one main reason.
According to a recent survey of vending operators, about 93 out of 100 potential vending accounts don't generate enough revenue to justify the cost of new equipment. New machines are great if you have high volume accounts, but most people do not have these accounts.
Typical pricing on new "commercial grade" machines:
- Can drink machines: $6,200–$7,400
- Snack machines: $6,600–$8,500
- Cold food machines: $8,900–$11,700
(Priced with mech and validator, typical options, vendor pricing not including sales tax or shipping in some cases.)
As you can see, that's quite high compared to used or refurbished equipment.
Please remember 'anyone and everyone' can call their machines refurbished but what does that really mean? Please see our machine ratings page for what we actually do to our machines. Many of our competitors don't even 'clean or paint the inside' of the machines.
Start small and grow as you can afford it.Many people start in the vending business without much knowledge, and that can hurt them financially if they're not careful.
All of the machines that we sell are full size, commercial machines. There are many machines that are made that are small, countertop or mechanical coin acceptance. These machines are fine if you are a housewife looking to make a little extra money on the side. We used to sell those type of machines and no longer do. The main reason is that people who were serious about vending would out grow these type of machines in several months.
Small mechanical machines have two main problems:
- They don't make change or accept dollar bills
- They "work you to death" — frequent refills for very little payoff
Most hold under 100 products and gross only $40–$50 per full restock, and profit is less than half of that.
A full-size commercial machine, by contrast, usually holds 350 to 600 products and empties out at $250–$500. Since you spend most of your time just driving to the location, you might as well fill 500 products instead of 50.
