National 168 VE Revision Door Snack Vending Machine
The National 168 VE Revision Door Snack Vending Machine is a refurbished commercial snack machine built for operators who want a modern look, flexible product capacity, and updated vending electronics. This Executive Black model combines the proven National 168 platform with a VE Revision Door, LED lighting, drop sensors, MDB multi-price technology, and DEX protocol support.
With six shelves, dual snack spirals, and one dedicated candy shelf, this machine gives operators room to offer a wide mix of popular snacks and candy. The machine is designed for approximately 26 to 32 selections, with a listed capacity of about 260 to 320 items, depending on product size and shelf configuration.
The National 168 is also credit-card capable. This means the vending electronics are modern enough to accept a compatible cashless payment reader. A credit card reader is not included with the base machine. An E-Port credit card reader can be added separately through the product options.
Modern VE Revision Door Design
The VE Revision Door gives the National 168 a refreshed appearance while adding updated vending technology. The Executive Black finish provides a clean, professional look that can work well in offices, break rooms, manufacturing facilities, schools, recreational areas, and other commercial locations.
A modern appearance can make a difference when placing a vending machine in a customer-facing location. The updated door helps give an older commercial vending platform a more contemporary presentation without requiring the purchase of a brand-new machine.
The Revision Door design also incorporates updated electronics. This makes the machine suitable for operators who want features commonly expected from modern vending equipment.
Six-Shelf Snack Capacity
The National 168 features six shelves for snack merchandising. This provides flexibility when building a product mix for a particular location.
Operators can use different shelves for different product categories. For example, one area can hold chips, another can hold cookies and crackers, while other shelves can be used for candy bars, pastries, or other packaged snacks.
The actual number of products the machine holds depends on the size, shape, and packaging of the items selected. The listed capacity is approximately 260 to 320 items.
Dual Snack Spirals
The machine includes dual snack spirals. Dual spirals provide flexibility for vending different snack sizes and package styles.
Snack spirals help move products forward as customers make selections. Operators can configure the selections based on the products that sell best at their location.
This setup is useful for creating a varied snack selection. Smaller products can be placed in suitable selections, while larger packaged snacks can be assigned to spirals that provide the needed product space.
Dedicated Candy Shelf
The National 168 also includes one candy shelf. A dedicated candy area makes it easier to create a balanced product mix.
Candy can be an important part of a snack vending program. Chocolate bars, candy bars, small packaged sweets, and similar products can be organized separately from chips and larger snacks.
The shelf configuration gives operators flexibility when deciding which products to offer. Product placement can also be adjusted as customer preferences change.
MDB Multi-Price Electronics
This National 168 is equipped with MDB multi-price electronics. MDB, or Multi-Drop Bus, is commonly used in commercial vending equipment to connect payment devices and other vending components.
Multi-price capability allows different selections to have different prices. This is useful when a machine sells products with different wholesale costs and retail price points.
Operators can create a more flexible pricing structure instead of assigning one price to every selection. This can make it easier to offer a broader range of products.
Coin and Bill Payment
The machine is configured with a five-tube coin system and accepts $1 and $5 bills. These payment options give customers familiar ways to pay for snacks.
Cash payment remains useful in many vending locations. A combination of coin and bill acceptance allows the machine to serve customers who prefer traditional payment methods.
Credit Card Capable
The National 168 is credit card capable, but it is important to understand what that means.
The machine does not include a credit card reader with the standard purchase. Instead, the vending electronics are new enough to support the addition of a compatible cashless payment reader.
Vending World lists an E-Port credit card reader as an available option. The reader can be purchased separately and installed by the customer or arranged for installation through an outside technician. Installation services may involve an additional cost.
Adding a cashless payment option can give customers another way to pay. This is especially useful for locations where customers may not carry enough cash or prefer electronic payments.
LED Interior Lighting
The National 168 includes LED lighting. Interior lighting helps illuminate the products inside the cabinet.
Good product visibility makes it easier for customers to see the available selections. LED lighting can also give the machine a more modern appearance.
For locations with varying lighting conditions, an illuminated product area can make the selections easier to identify. This is useful in offices, warehouses, break rooms, schools, and other commercial environments.
Drop Sensors for Better Vending Control
This model includes drop sensors. These sensors are designed to detect when a product has successfully dropped into the delivery area.
Drop-sensing technology can help reduce problems associated with unsuccessful product delivery. When a product does not drop correctly, the vending system can respond based on its programmed operation.
This feature adds another layer of control to the vending process. It is particularly useful for operators who want updated vending technology on a refurbished machine.
DEX Protocol Support
The National 168 supports DEX protocol. DEX is used with vending management systems to collect machine information such as sales and inventory-related data.
For vending operators managing multiple machines, data can help with route planning and inventory decisions. Operators can use available vending data to better understand which products need attention and when a machine may require servicing.
DEX support makes this National 168 a useful option for vending routes that use compatible management equipment.
Refurbished National 168 Quality
This machine is sold as a refurbished item. Refurbished vending equipment can provide operators with access to commercial-grade machines at a different price point than new equipment.
The National 168 combines its established commercial vending platform with updated Revision Door technology. This gives operators an alternative to purchasing an entirely new machine.
Choosing refurbished equipment can also be useful when expanding an existing vending route. Operators can add another machine while maintaining a practical equipment budget.

Why Buy A Refurbished Machine?
Great Returns - Commercial Grade Machines - Affordability
New vs Refurbished
We used to sell new machines as well as reconditioned ones. We no longer sell new, for one main reason.
According to a recent survey of vending operators, about 93 out of 100 potential vending accounts don't generate enough revenue to justify the cost of new equipment. New machines are great if you have high volume accounts, but most people do not have these accounts.
Typical pricing on new "commercial grade" machines:
- Can drink machines: $6,200–$7,400
- Snack machines: $6,600–$8,500
- Cold food machines: $8,900–$11,700
(Priced with mech and validator, typical options, vendor pricing not including sales tax or shipping in some cases.)
As you can see, that's quite high compared to used or refurbished equipment.
Please remember 'anyone and everyone' can call their machines refurbished but what does that really mean? Please see our machine ratings page for what we actually do to our machines. Many of our competitors don't even 'clean or paint the inside' of the machines.
Start small and grow as you can afford it.Many people start in the vending business without much knowledge, and that can hurt them financially if they're not careful.
All of the machines that we sell are full size, commercial machines. There are many machines that are made that are small, countertop or mechanical coin acceptance. These machines are fine if you are a housewife looking to make a little extra money on the side. We used to sell those type of machines and no longer do. The main reason is that people who were serious about vending would out grow these type of machines in several months.
Small mechanical machines have two main problems:
- They don't make change or accept dollar bills
- They "work you to death" — frequent refills for very little payoff
Most hold under 100 products and gross only $40–$50 per full restock, and profit is less than half of that.
A full-size commercial machine, by contrast, usually holds 350 to 600 products and empties out at $250–$500. Since you spend most of your time just driving to the location, you might as well fill 500 products instead of 50.
